Faith is not something we receive from God only to leave unchanged. Like a muscle, faith must be exercised. The more we walk with God and trust His Word, the stronger our confidence in Him should become! .

 

“But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love.”
— 1 Thessalonians 5:8 (KJV)

 

One of the clearest evidences of spiritual growth is growing faith.

A new believer may easily become overwhelmed by circumstances. But as we mature spiritually, we learn to look beyond what is happening around us and trust the God who is above our circumstances.

Faith does not mean that we deny reality. Faith means that we recognize that God is greater than the reality we can see.

Abraham believed God even when the promise seemed impossible. David faced Goliath because he knew that the size of his enemy could never be greater than the power of his God.

Spiritual growth means that situations that once destroyed our peace no longer have the same power over us because we have learned to trust God.

Growing faith also means learning to trust God when He has not yet answered.

It is easy to have faith when the miracle has already happened. Mature faith says, “Even if I cannot see it yet, I still trust God.”

The evidence of growing faith is that we increasingly respond to life's challenges with God's Word rather than fear.

 

Reflection

• Has my faith grown compared with where I was a year ago?

• Do I trust God only when circumstances are favorable?

• What situation is God asking me to trust Him with today?

 

Prayer

Father, increase my faith. Teach me to trust You beyond what I can see. Help me to stand firmly on Your Word when circumstances challenge me. Let every trial strengthen my confidence in You rather than weaken it. In Jesus' name, Amen.

My faith is growing.
I trust God beyond what I can see.
I will not be ruled by fear.
God's Word is my foundation.
Every challenge strengthens my confidence in God.
